This 28,000 square foot commercial/industrial building was transformed from a privately owned accredited university into a multi-purpose conference center with a capacity of up to 800 occupants. The project presented complex challenges, including seismic structural redesign, material shortages, and procurement disruptions during the pandemic. HBM Construction served as the Structural Design-Build General Contractor, leading the project through thoughtful engineering solutions and adaptive construction strategies. By redesigning the structural approach, HBM successfully preserved and reused the existing 20,000+ square foot roof, originally installed just five years prior. This strategic decision resulted in over $850,000 in cost savings for the owner while maintaining structural integrity, performance, and long-term value. (https://www.fremontsprings.org)
